The object of the game is to roll the wood as close to the white jack as possible. The jack is cast the length of the green to start each end. Where it stops, after being placed in the middle of the rink, becomes the target for the balance of the end. The wood is not completely round, allowing it to curve toward the jack as momentum is lost. The wood curves either way, depending on which way it is held during delivery.
Bowls involves strategy to play the game, and has the added challenge that the jack is movable and can be displaced anywhere on the rink by a delivered wood.
The game of Bowls can be played as Singles; Pairs; Triples; Fours / Rinks.
Singles is played between two opposing players. Players should play singly and in turn either with two, three or four woods of a set of bowls.
Pairs are played between two opposing teams, each with two players. Players should play singly and in turn either two, three or fours woods of a set of bowls.

Fours or Rinks is played by two opposing teams, each with four players. Players should play singly and in turn two woods of a set of bowls.
One or more points are scored by the team whose woods are closer to the jack than those of their opponents. One point is scored for each wood closer.
